Comparison and exchange of experience in the scope of monitoring of the course of Lyme disease as well as costs of a diagnosis of a therapy of tick-borne diseases were the leading subjects of the medical staff training organized by District Clinical Hospital of Infectious Diseases in Grodno.
Meeting were held on 9-13 June and three employees of the Observation-Infectious Ward and two employees of the Medical Diagnostic Laboratory in IPHCU in Hajnówka took part in them. on the first day a 5-person team from Hajnówka met with the Main Doctor of the District Clinical Hospital of Infectious Diseases in Grodno and got to know the structure of working of medical assistance provided for patients suffering from infectious diseases in the Grodno reyon. In the following days the hosts presented a hospital laboratory and a treatment room of the admissions ward where blood samples are taken. During the training were conducted examinations of cerebrospinal fluid of patients suffering with tick-borne diseases. Moreover, was presented a new analyser PCR bought within the project which will be used for detecting Lyme disease. All examinations finished with analysis and assessment paying special attention to work organization and costs. During the meetings were discussed differences in diagnostics and treatment of Lyme disease as well as comparison of the costs of treatment of Lyme disease and tick-borne encephalitis.
